Renting and Operating a Pontoon Boat

  • Operators must have a valid driver's license and prior experience operating a motorized boat.

  • Operators born before June 30, 1996, can rent and operate without a boater safety license.

  • Operators born after June 30, 1996, must be at least 25 years old, pass a boater safety course, and carry a boater education card to operate the boat.

  • Operators must not drink alcohol or be under the influence of drugs while operating the boat.

  • All children 6 and under must wear a lifejacket at all times.

  • Any person under 90 lbs must provide their own correct-sized, Coast Guard-approved lifejacket.

  • No smoking or fire of any kind including but not limited to cigarettes, vapes, and hookahs.

  • No fireworks.

  • No pets.

  • No tubing or watersports of any kind including but not limited to tubing.

  • No standing while boat is in motion.

  • For attention on the way back to dock please call 248-800-9614 fifteen minutes prior to reaching dock and we will meet you to guide you in and return your rental.

Getting your Boater’s Safety Certificate

Boaters born after June 30, 1996, and most personal watercraft operators who operate a vessel in Michigan must have a boater education card (boating safety certificate). Students can earn their boater safety certificate by completing the traditional classroom, online or interactive course. For more information please visit the Michigan DNR website.

Kayak and Paddle Board Rentals

Kayakers and paddle boarders must always wear a lifejacket, these are provided and included in the rental.
